Best of 2015: Skincare Favorites

Effaclar Duo Review, MUAC Glycolic Body Lotion Review, Fresh Umbrian Clay Review, Benefit Dream Screen Review

I couldn't end the year without quickly talking about the best skincare products I discovered in 2015. I think these would work for anyone, regardless of skin type (dry/oily/combo or the elusive "normal"). Read on to see why they have me all worked up.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+

I have absolutely no idea why US drugstore brands can't get their shit together when it comes to acne-fighting products. This little tube is light years away from anything you'll find by Clean and Clear or Clearasil. It's a highly effective spot treatment, but gentle enough to spread over large areas of the face without drying it out. It layers fabulously under makeup, which can't be said about most other products in the same category. This is the version sold in Europe, without Benzoyl Peroxide (US version has different ingredients). If you want to purchase, make sure you do so from overseas (the link above is the cheapest I've found).

Makeup Artist's Choice Glycolic Body Lotion

Any other year my MUAC Gly-luronic Serum would have won - but this blew me away. I beg you, if you suffer from any ingrown hairs on your legs or keratosis pilaris on your upper arms, buy this. The glycolic has been so much more effective at removing dead skin than any body scrub or loofah ever has. I'm also a huge fan of their AHA Body Wash (cured my vomit-inducing bacne), but this has been the greatest investment I've ever made for my legs. You honestly won't believe the smoothness.

Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

I've always worn heavy eye makeup so I've tried basically everything on the market to remove it - this is the best. Do not doubt me. The dual-phase makes it stupidly easy to take off anything and you only need one cotton pad soaked half way through to remove a smokey eye. No stinging or burning - another rarity. This beats Lancome Bi-Facial, Neutrogena, those Almay pads, Clinique Take the Day off, Coconut/Olive/Jojoba and any other trendy oils, Clarins Instant and Bioderma (along with any other dupes of the above). Trust.

Benefit Dream Screen

An incredible sunscreen, with a texture unlike anything else I've tried before. It really does have a 'silky-matte' consistency, that blends in the way a silicone-based primer would (but sinks in more quickly). Absolutely no greasy residue (provided you don't apply too much) and also acts as a lovely makeup primer due to its smoothing effect. I've ditched my previous sunscreen favorites, Clinique Super City Block and Shiseido Urban Environment, because this is easier to use and has a higher SPF. Those are both good, but this is great.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Mask

You can read a more detailed review on this here so I'll keep it short for now. This is a phenomenal spot treatment as well as a great all-over clay mask. One of the only clay masks I can use for prolonged periods (like overnight) that does not leave my skin dehydrated and flaky. This will reduce any active or under-the-skin blemishes by at least 70% within a few hours. Seriously good stuff, and a (slightly) cheaper alternative to the GLAMGLOW Supermud

I definitely got much more into skincare this year since I've been growing out of my sensitivity. I'm a bit nervous for my wallet in 2016, but we must soldier on.
