Easy Summer Makeup: Coral Lips & Cobalt Blue Liner

Easy Summer Makeup Look

I. love. summer. makeup. Absolutely adore it. I tend to follow beauty trends every season, and even though I succumb to moody fall and winter makeup I do feel like it makes me look a little drab when applied with a heavy hand.

Which is how I usually do my makeup. Essentially barreling onto my skin with the strength of a coursing river.

But summer...summer is easy. Summer is fun. Summer is pounds of highlighter and rivers bronzer and neon lips, somehow none of which looks crazy. Just really fun and only slightly melt-y.

I originally filmed this look for a GRWM on my channel but tried to incorporate a "first impressions" on the new Wet & Wild makeup brushes, which, spoiler alert, I purchased everyone of and hated them all. The footage is basically 38 minutes of me complaining about how terrible I look. But how well can you really expect makeup to go on when you're paying $1.99 for your brushes (pretty well, I apparently thought?)

Since I have about 400 selfies of this look on my camera it makes sense to do a blog post on it, with a little product breakdown as well. Most of these items I've been really enjoying so I'm happy to share them regardless.

Before & After Makeup Transformation

Let's talk face and base. On the days that I've been filming I've been reaching for the Marc Jacobs re(marc)able foundation concentrate (I wear the shade Ivory 12). Quite the name but its quite the formula - It's lighter in texture than my go to L'oreal Pro Matte, and the coverage is so. good. It can look a little cakey on the craters around my nose, so the best way to apply is a dampened beautyblender (no, you can't use a different sponge).

Concealer was my current staple, the Lancome Waterproof Concealer, and I set the whole thing with my HG Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder. Going on 4 years and I have yet to find anything that makes more look as matte and poreless as that gorgeous little plastic pot.

To bronze up my face I used a combination of the new(ish) BareMinerals Sheer Sun Serum Bronzer which, holyshitman, is AMAZING. It reminds me exactly of the NARS Liquid Laguna, which also as has an incredible formula but is almost twice the price. Think gorgeous sunkissed-but-never-streaky skin in a bottle. It's that good. I added a little more color with my Laura Mercier Ritual Baked Bronzer, a summer staple. Blush was also a creamy favorite (ew), Tarte's Cheek Stain in True Love. A longtime favorite, but any color will do if you're interested in checking out the range.

I popped on a little of the LE Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold highlighter which I only own because Beautylish refunded my money on it after I left a (somewhat scathing) review on their site about the disappointing packaging. Lovely customer service though (they credited my $$).

Easy Bright Summer Makeup Look with Blue Liner

Eves were very simple with the main focus on the blue liner. I think I chucked a little bit of MAC's Saddle in the crease and called it a day. For the bright cobalt liner, I used a click-stick from Kiko Milano, which is surprising still available and only $4.90 (!!!). I love this formula. The click-style pen is also stupidly easy to use, and I'm still shocked at how well my wing turned out. #smallvictories. I added a few lashings of Benefit's They're Real! Mascara in blue and called it quits.

LIPS. My go-to summer combo (vom, I know) has been Benefit chachatint + YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #14 and it's not stopping anytime soon. The two together create the juiciest, most perfect bright mango coral you ever did see.

Mmmm cobalt + coral. Let me know what your favorite summer makeup styles are!
