Favorite One-and-Done Eyeshadows

Easiest One and Done Eyeshadows

I posted on Instagram that I was working on this post LAST MONTH. I never started.

I took the photo you see above a month before that. And now, here we are, writing about a topic that feels somehow stale but at the same time, totally fresh. Because I still REALLY want to talk about it.

Let's be real, I don't enjoy blending eyeshadow at 7 AM. I don't care about how much I love makeup at 7 AM. Or that I have super fluffy handmade blending brushes or a $38 swoon-worthy eyeshadow at my disposal. I care about my coffee and whatever outfit is going to make me look 5 lbs lighter.

So, blending? Zero fucks given. But being the beauty brat that I am (DAAAAAAAANGGGG what a good blog name, I should re-brand) I still want my eyes to look...done, you know? Polished. Perfected. Slightly glow-y but not "shadowy".

Which is why I'm such a huge fan of the above. One-and-done shadows. Well, one-and-done anything really, but one-and-done is super overdone so let's not keep saying it. Haphazardly blending one color on the lid in 5 seconds or less is my JAM so I wanted to share my favorites. Each of the below are easy to use and look gorgeous by themselves. No crease/transition bullshit. Not at 7 AM.

L'Oreal Infallible Shadows - Amber Rush & Bronzed Taupe

THE OGs. Do you remember when these came out? People flipped their shit and started waving their ExtraBucks all over the place, making it rain and picking up every color (myself included). I have destashed most of my eyeshadow collection but I always hold onto these. They're easy to use with lovely pigmentation and the glow factor is real. They're easily blended out and require zero fuss to achieve a full "look" with just one shade. Bronzed Taupe is my go-to when I want to do the laziest of smokey eyes. As a taupe fiend (it's a thing), this color is a must-have.  I use Amber Rush when I want something a bit lighter and more eye-opening. It's the best rose gold you'll find at the drugstore.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow - RSVP

THIS IS THE PERFECT SHADE OF PINK. Seriously. It NEVER fails me. This shadow is my go-to champagne-y pink base, yes, but I also find myself reaching for it when I don't know what the hell I'm doing with my makeup. Or maybe I've gone in too many directions and I need something foolproof for the eyes. It's a very grounded shade. It knows what it is and it's not afraid to be neutral. It also makes your eyelids look sexy as hell, if that's even a thing. It's one of the few cream shadows I have that I enjoy wearing alone without a powder on top, and the lasting power is excellent. Standby.

ByTerry Ombre Blackstar - Blonde Opal

I have a few of these, but I find myself reaching for the above shade, a creamy white-gold, when my face feels dark and ugly. It brings a TON of light to the eye area and is just general blendable perfection. The color is so easy and honestly something that will flatter any eye color or skin tone. While I love my rich, bronzey golds with orange bases there's just something so wearable about this color. I can swipe it on with any makeup look, warm or cool, and it just looks...good. But should you pay $44 for good? I don't know, but I did. Four times. Oops?

Easiest No Fail One and Done Eyeshadows

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow - Space Cowboy

I wear this alone and call it my "work appropriate glitter". This shade is hot-ass fire, let me tell you. It makes your lids look wet and glossy in the most flattering way possible. As an unabashed fan of day-glitter, maybe take my advice with a grain of salt, but I'm not lying when I say I've never found a glitter that's easier to use or as wearable. The champagne flecks are suspended in a clear base so it's impossible to mess up and it also doesn't make your eyes look shadowy. Just pure glow. This is my #1 pick from the Moondust range, though I haven't tried any new ones since the shade extension.

Burberry Eye Color - Silk Shadow in Rosewood

As if there could be any more perfect one-and-done shadow on the planet. The color, the packaging. Vibes. I have the shade Rosewood, a rosy taupe with the most silky, satiny look and feel on the lids. This is the kind of color/texture I feel good about splurging on. On your eyes it just looks...expensive. Pale Barley, Almond & Tea Rose are next on my hit list. A wonderful formula that blends itself.

MAC Electric Cool Shadow - Gilded Thrill

Okay, this one is limited edition. You may not be able to get the shade anymore but I believe MAC made the formula permanent and there are tons of excellent neutrals on the site (I recommend Photosphere). This formula is similar to Colourpop's but FAR superior. The texture is creamy, spongy and blendable. I love patting the glitter on top of eye looks for more dimension but it's equally beautiful buy itself. A little color, a little shimmer, what's not to love? The solid glitter is easy to maneuver on the lids and looks beautiful when it catches the light. Love these!
