BAG LADY: Top 10 Handbags for Fall/Winter '16

I'm in a serious bag lust state right now. Thought I would share my top 10 handbag recommendations for the fall/winter season. These are all of my must-haves, though not necessary my 'can-affords'. Lots of price points, however!

Gucci Marmont Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Gucci Marmont Shoulder Bag

Everyone is talking about this bag, but can you blame them? The luxe fabrics and rich jewel tones make such an amazing statement, especially paired with a more neutral wardrobe. Those that gravitate towards all black ensembs (ahem), this is one to splurge on. The velvet is gorgeous, as is the standard matelasse, and it comes in various sizes for every type of bag-lover. For something slightly less expensive (with more space to boot) I also love the MCM Milla (here and here).

Mansur Gavriel Large Tote Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Mansur Gavriel Large Brandy Tote

This will probably be my fall bag purchase. I'm in desperate need of a new tote and this spirits of this bag have been communicating with me in my sleep. I fell in love with the Brandy shade when I first saw Sienna Miller rocking her bucket years ago. Two bucket purchases have already been made (Camello and Rococco), so we're not even going there, but since I need a tote...

I know from experience the leather wears beautifully, and the luxe Brandy hue will work year 'round.

Coach Rivets Rogue Western Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Coach 1941 Western Rivets Rogue Bag

The western detailing on all of Coach's A/W 16 bags is beautiful. The similar satchel has been especially popular, making the rounds on lots of blogs and IG posts, but I love the rogue bag.

Coach 1941 Autumn Winter 2016

With lots more space (for activities) and more surface area for detail, I find it more eye catching and functional. I adore the rich blue color and since I'm a suede hound it's perfect. Those with a penchant for more neutral bags, NM has a beautiful Ginger shade here.

Kate Spade Massey Court Luxe Shearling Bag Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Kate Spade Massey Court Luxe Sherilyn

I've never understood KS' penchant for absurdly long product titles. Regardless, this is a disturbingly cute fall statement bag. Their designs are usually far too kitsch for me to invest in, but something about this bag screamed at me when I first saw it. Maybe because it reminds me of this furry Fendi Peekaboo that's 6x the price. I love the more neutral hues paired with such a fun fabric. A great way to elevate such a basic, overdone bag shape.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Mini Suede Satchel Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Proenza Schouler Mini PS1 Suede Satchel

The color. THE COLOR. How can you resist such a rich suede, in such an adorable little package? I've always been a fan of the shape of the PS1 mini satchel, moreso than the original medium. It's so chic and utilitarian, and not as "bag-y" as so many other similar silhouettes. Say it with me: "chic safari". The Mahogany hue is more than perfect for fall.

Tory Burch Marion Suede Tote Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Tory Burch Marion Suede Tote

Are you asking for trouble with a massive suede tote? Probably. Is this bag too gorgeous to care? Yes. The Marion has been a popular tote style for awhile now, due to its reasonable price point and functional size (it's compact for a tote but still roomy). Tory introduced it in suede for this season, and it's definitely a stunner.

ZARA Mini Quilted Backpack Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Zara Mini Quilted Backpack

This is the cutest backpack I have ever seen Zara do. Of course it's such an incredibly cheap rendering of the lowest common form of a Chanel knockoff, but who cares? The tweed-lookalike fabric and leather-in-chain strap is fun and playful without being too buttoned up. This kind of mini bag would work just as well with gf/bf jeans and a distressed tee as it would with a halter dress and sneakers. Streeeeeeeet chiiiiiiiiiiiiic.

Alexander Wang Prisma Envelope Chain Sling Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

Alexander Wang Prisma Envelope Chain Sling

I'm obsessed with this bag. The perfect black shoulder bag, in my opinion. If I'm going to go for a small black bag, I want it to look more edgy than classic. Wang seriously over-delivers with the oversized chain strap and croc detailing. The small version is equally perfect (though less practical). If you're into the chain strap, he has a ton of styles with a similar look and feel. Go forth and be edgy!

YSL Medium Monogramme Kate Shoulder Bag Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

YSL Medium Monogram Kate Bag

I know this is stupidly overpriced for the size, but the Merlot color is just too beautiful not to include. The gold chain strap, despite being so warm, would pair beautifully with anything from taupe to grey to mint, so the bag seems entirely functional, no? I also appreciate the lack of puffy quilting, which, although nice, is already all over every IG #handbag feed. I will admit I swoon for the YSL gold plaque. Who doesn't?

J.Crew Signet Bag Best Bags for Fall Winter 2016

J.Crew Leopard Signet Bag

The old me never thought I'd go there, but I love a leopard accessory. My leopard Madwell loafers & beat up Target booties are probably my most worn shoes right now. I'm very drawn to the calf-hair version of this perfectly-shaped Signet bag. This bag is such an amazing price for a really great camera bag. You probably don't want to be seen with a Gucci Soho Disco (overdone) or a YSL Blogger Bag (stupidly small & impractical, not to mention absurdly overpriced), but this baby is functional and easy on your wallet. More solid color options here.
