2016: Fall Fashion Under $50

Don't you love it when a post you wrote a year ago starts trending and getting more views than your fresher content?  That's when you know you're taking SEO for granted. Since the post has been so popular, I figured it was time for an update :) Below are my picks for the best Fall Fashion under $50!

The Chunky Knit Sweater that Won't Break the Bank ($48)

Chunky Knit Sweaters Under $50

More importantly, it comes in your three best basic colors - black, cream and blush. You'd be hard pressed to find better quality for less. You can stick to J.Crew/Madewell and buy on sale to get closer to $50, but...sometimes waiting for a sale is out of the question. I get it. I adore the crew neck on this, and my all-time favorite look for fall is just a simple black skinny jean paired with ankle boots and a chunky knit. Can't go wrong.

The Skirt, Updated ($19.99)

Pleated Skirts Under $50

A pleated skirt is so great because it instantly elevates anything. A t-shirt? Works great. A chunky knit? High fashion! Hell, pull that shit up over your boobs, belt it and say you're paying homage to 2007. The silvery-black hue is perfect now that we're coming up on winter, but it feels like it could also work in the spring paired with a pastel top. The slight sparkle also makes it a nice contender for a holiday party. Add heels and a lacy camisole (tucked in or out, dealers choice) and you're done.

The Wear-Everywhere Leather Legging ($28)Best Faux Leather Leggings Under $50

I profiled these earlier this year, but I always think a moto-style leather legging works better than a plain version. Just more...expensive-looking maybe? But ladies with shorter torsos, you may need to avert your eyes for this high-waisted pair. I've had my eye on an A.L.O version for 6+ months, but $100+ leggings just seem excessive. $28? Much better.

The Cozy Knit that's never scratchy ($29.90)

Chunky Knit Cardigans Under $50

A sweater should never be the thing I most want to take off at the end of the day (should always be pants). It must be divinely cozy and envelop you in nothing but love and comfort. It should also hide lumps and bumps. This loose cardigan-esque, jacket-like knit is unbeatabley soft (I am obsessed with this soft, stretchy knit material that Zara brings back every Fall/Winter) and something I want to wear every damn day. It's also mystifyingly chunky without being bulky.

The Velvet Piece ($17.90)

Velvet Bags Under $50

I'm just as sick as you of watching this entire fashion season be repeatedly swaddled in velvet. Like, let's move on. But sometimes a subtle nod to a trend still makes me feel happy and included, which is how I'd feel taking this bag to both the grocery store or any formal event. Love a good chain strap, and for under $20? Done.

The Comfy Blouse ($38)Pajama Top Under $50

I love this pajama (pyjama? I'm very divided on that word) top trend that's been going on. Anything I can literally roll out of bed in and pair with jeans is an A+. I think you could go for satin or cotton/jersey/modal and either would look chic. And in case Navy isn't your thing, ASOS has 150+ options all under $50.

The Statement Ankle Boot ($44.99)

Statement Ankle Boots Under $50

MID-SHAFT. MID-SHAFT! I am downright 100% all-in obsessed with the taller shaft bootie. I picked up these faux-snakeskin beauties a few weeks ago to replace my worn leopard booties and the fit & feel is excellent. The neutral shade pairs well with anything and the higher shaft looks great with skirts. I was considering shelling out for a pair of Dear Frances Spirit Boots, but the desire is slowly waning. Thanks Target!

The Neutral Dress ($28 & $46)

Turtleneck Sweater Dress Under $50
I couldn't choose, so I've linked to both here and here. The black is just $28 and the taupe has 7% Cashmere so it's a little pricier (still under $50!). I love a good turtle (or mock) neck on a blouse or dress. It makes make me feel very relaxed while still seeming "styled". Both of these would look equally lovely paired with the above ankle boots and velvet bag so uh, excuse me while I check out real quick.

The Non-Constricting Outwear ($49.90)

Stylish Ponchos Under $50

Ponchos have really come a long way from the styles that plagued my high school back in the late aughts. Today's versions are cozy and adjustable, wrap-wise so you feel less like 60 year old slam poet. Zara's take is the first I've seen under $50 that actually looks big and comfortable. Another pick you can snag under $50 during a sale (I'm already planning my Black Friday/Cyber Monday strategy, okay?) is this Madewell Windowpane style that's just $79.

The Elegant Fall Flat ($49.90)

Zara Pointed Flats Beya Knockoff

Zara shoes are absolutely insane right now. Let me just take a moment to direct your attention here, here and here to some other flats (under $50!) I'm floored by. I love the above pointed ones because they remind me a lot of the Nicholas Kirkwood Beya Loafers that are also having a moment. I don't always love patent but it's done nicely here, and this shoe is a great alternative to a heel when you just can't. I do urge you though, go to Zara's main shoe page, filter by your size and prepare to be wowed.

Regarding my own closet, I've been trying to resist all of the fall pieces, however I have picked up a few newer things recently, so I may do a recent purchase round up soon. Thanks for reading!
