Weekly Beauty News Round Up | #3

I know, I skipped a week. But I'm back! I spent the past 7 days in Texas on vacay exploring the vast Tex-Mex landscape and bookmarking beauty articles on my phone. Here are my favorites.

Estee Lauder Acquires Too Faced for $1.4 Billion

Starting off with the big one. Earlier this week Estee Lauder reportedly filed to acquire Too Faced Cosmetics for the largest amount ever spent on "buying" a beauty brand. L'oreal's recent acquisition of IT Cosmetics comes close ($1.2 billion back in July) but that number is still massive. Definitely speaks to the strength (at least in $$, anyways) of TF's recent launches. I'll be honest, I am looking forward to swatching the upcoming chocolate chip palettes...*hangs head*.

Glossier's Priming Moisturizer Rich is (finally!) Coming Soon

As a big fan of the OG Priming Moisturizer (I've gone through several tubes) this is a launch I'm definitely twiddling my thumbs for. I swoon over most of their marketing endeavors, and following the evolution of this product over the past year has been very exciting. I definitely wish more brands communicated to their consumers this way. I know it only makes sense for indies, but it's still got me jazzed.

Can We Try Harder with this Whole "Fall Beauty" Thing?

We can always count on the insightful staff at xo Vain to make us demand (and produce) more with our beauty content. It's true - fall makeup has been pushed to this boring, utterly predictable space where many of us probably feign excitement when the season starts. I recently posted my 5 favorite fall lipsticks and I'm already wishing I covered my fave pastel eyeshadows instead (although those lipsticks are all bomb, promise).

Why Do So Many Beauty Stores Look & Feel the Same?

Great piece over at Racked that details why beauty retailers design stores the way that they do. Clean lines, black & white color schemes, shiny floors, reflective fixtures...If these sounds familiar it's because most of them employ some (or all) of them, and the ones that don't have very interesting reasons why. (Sidebar: I'm obsessed with Racked)

MAC's Mariah Carey Collection is Here - & You'll Need Sunglasses to Look At It

The lipstick bullets have butterflies on them, people. BUTTERFLIES. And the beauty powders have her goddamn face on them! At this point it's probably irrelevant that nothing will work for my skin tone, right? I should just buy it all anyway?

*Treats self*
