From Oily to Royal-y (or, thoughts on Spiro when my skin is behaving)

It's midnight. I need to go to bed. I'm blogging.

My 9-to-5 (10-to-8?) has been kicking my ass, but I've been enjoying a strong dose of makeup lately and the mornings spent hastily applying in the dark are sometimes usually the best parts of my day. Specifically since I've started Spironolactone (more on that later), I've had a big decrease in oil-production and am having a ball experimenting with more satin (dare I say...dewy?) foundations & formulas. I've actually had the odd dry patch, which has me downright giddy.

Makeup once on my shit list that I hoarded but hated, saved only for the day I dreamt I would no longer be oily, that has now come:

  • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (this is a big one)
  • Hourglass Diffused Light as my sole setting powder (!!!)
  • Bobbi Brown Pot Rouges
  • Glossier Haloscopes (these I still half-hate and regularly side-eye)

It's not that I'm no longer oily. It's more like I've gone from a coursing river of clarified butter to a gentle stream of firm coconut oil. Just slightly glossy. Coupled with the fact that my skin looks better than it has in aaaaagessss, I'm actually excited to get in front of the mirror these days.

It's still to cover everything up, of course. But it's a start.

And chalk it up to my current Project 10 Pan that has me digging through my drawers to finish half-empty, forgotten foundations, but I haven't reached for my beloved L'oreal Pro Matte in at least a month.

Unrelated news: hair has been dyed back to brown. Despite wanting it for awhile, I was honestly expecting to feel DRAB after about five minutes (why I bought a bottle of back-up bleach). I have to say, I'm into it. I think I look...better.
